Pianodirt, I dont know of any templates for the "Green Monster" but the good news is the Washington State L&I will except bills done on the HCFA 1500.  So there is no need to buy something else.Dale

Hello,I have read through the posts to this topic, as I have been interested in office software recently, and I have decided to purchase the Massage Customer Pro-File by Land Software.  It is more cost effective for my small  and growing practice and does more than I need it to do at this point.  The Island software has nicer graphics, but each look comparable to one another as far as functionality and features go.  I just can't justify spending twice as much on pretty graphics at this point. I am thankful that a more economically feasable option is available.  If ever down the line I should become more prosperous and want to try the Island Software program, I may at that time.  I am still basically at the beginning of my career, and have been keeping handwritten records, more than anything because purchasing the software was cost prohibitive (all I knew of  that was available before reading this thread was the Island program), but want to get a little more high-tech-y, and coming from a consumer's standpoint, it would be foolhearty of me to spend all my resources on a program just because it was "there first" and has prettier graphics.   Interestingly, the DaVinci "Study of Man" is one of the background photos on the Land program, which also happens to be my boyfriend's logo for his own massage practice.  Pulling up the program on the computer will make a nice presentation for his clients; it looks customized for his business!  What a nice and unexpected  "extra".   Also, remember this:  many great businesses began as "one man shows".

That is good to know Dale. I did happen to find a fillable PDF (Adobe Acrobat) file on the WA L&I website. I emailed L&I and they said we can just print the form out and mail that it, even print it on white paper. Only glitch is if you want to save the file with your claim info filled in, you need to buy the Acrobat program, about $200. The Acrobat Reader is free. FYI...I just talked with WA state L&I today about using the HCFA 1500 forms in lieu of the "green monster" statement for misc services form. The answer was yes they do accept them...but the hfca 1500 forms are on average a 2-week backlog whereas the "green monster" forms are keyed the day they are received. I think I would rather get paid sooner than the convenience of having all my insurance claims on one form.

Dale, do you know this 2-week delay to be true in real life? L&I is one large confusing organization. Such as I just found out that they want charts and billings to go to different addresses, but I've always sent them together and still get paid...hmmm....

Pianodirt,   There may be a delay with using the HCFA but I haven't noticed it.  What I have noticed is that not all L&I in WA goes through the Dept of L&I and most of the self-insured companies do not except the "Green Monster".  I find it easier and quicker to do all billing on a HCFA and not have to go back and forth depending on where it goes.  I do mostly insurance work so I send out bills ever week and I get checks every week.   It takes a while to build up to that point but once you do it makes it easier on you.
