Seems to be the case and sadly, Israel is going through some tough times. A real close friend just moved there awhile ago and she says it's been a nightmare.
Her parents to their shots, father had a rough time but managed to pull through after a month of hell. Her cousin died 2 weeks after her 2 shot.
They have the highest vaccination rates of any country and now also the highest COVID counts. Whatever COVID is/means.

It just boggles my mind how the governments, both local and federal, keep piling on mandate after mandate yet there seems to be little to no payoff. For every incovenient policy they throw at us, there never is any tradeoff. A mask mandate in the summer of last year was supposedly so effective that it would greatly reduce transmission and perhaps even help us into the fall months. Nope. We locked down anyway in November and while other regions were given a one-month reprieve in the spring, Toronto endured all 8 months of it. The excuse was some theoretical bullshit about how cases and hospitalizations would've been a lot more without the masks. At the peak of the shutdown where we were seeing almost 5,000 cases per day, what did it matter if we prevented another 5K? The hospitals and ICU's were already overwhelmed especially in December and April so saying that it could've been 9,000 or 20,000 or 50,000 was so tone deaf. Perpetuating it as some victory or benefit was just downright embarrassing.

Let's not kid ourselves into believing that we are now reaping the rewards this summer for our compliance to all these draconian measures. It's summer. Of course we'd be open. It's the same song and dance as last year. They throw us a bone in the summer by giving us a semblance of normalcy and then they take it away in the fall. The new normal means that you only get 5 out of 12 months to live with little to no government overreach.

Governments are only piling on mandates to make it look like they are doing something. The fact is, the government cannot do anything to change the outcome of the virus. As far as I know, please let me know if I am incorrect, there is no cure for any virus, and remember I said virus not to be confused with other diseases. The flu is a virus and has been around for how long, killing over half a million people a year and there is no cure. There is a vaccine to try and help those at risk, but even this is usually less than 50% effective because the virus keeps mutating.

I also question why this virus is being singled out, why have a passport for this specific virus? Why not make sure people do not have hepatitis, or other viruses or diseases? Have you also noticed that the places with the high case loads are also those with high living density. Something that has never been published, at least that I have seen, is what is the living density of those being infected, do most people live in single dwelling house holds, condos, apartments? It is also interesting they are pushing the passports for use at places where there have not been a lot of cases. I wonder how many people are getting sick on public transportation when they jam everyone into such cramped spaces? Is the need for a passport needed for public transport? This virus is being singled out because of how contagious it is and it's overwhelming of the healthcare system. The other viruses you cited are nowhere as contagious. Long term side effects of severe covid are damage to your lungs, kidney, heart and brain. Those other viruses don't really have long term complications once you recover.

I'm not going to argue but you may need to read a little more. The vaccine is not a cure, it is extra protection to help your immune system fight off the virus. You may want to read up on viruses and vaccines to understand this little bit of information. I asked if there is a cure to any virus as I am not aware of any, I am aware of vaccines to help protect people when their immune systems cannot fight off the virus on its own.

Thanks I didn't know about the published maps showing the neighbourhoods. I do agree it makes sense that it is more in high density areas.

I agree public transportation is essential and the ridership may be down but I have seen buses in my neighbourhood where people are still crammed into them, standing room only and not much of that if any. The ridership going into the downtown core, on the subways, is probably way down as many of the businesses are still closed. Could change as businesses start to reopen.

I also agree, I think this is the next in the line of trying to push people to get the vaccine.

I saw an interesting podcast where they were discussing about getting the vaccine and how they tried to make everyone take it. The interesting part was that those who did get it were getting none of the upside. They were still restricted like everyone else, they still had to wear masks, etc etc. Guess this is the attempt to give them something that the ones who did not get vaccinated will not have. But since everyone who goes in has to be vaxxed, I guess that means no one will have to wear a mask into the establishment.

Non-essential establishments are the target because these are the businesses that have shut down the longest and the passports are supposed to help keep them open during the colder months.

As controlling as it sounds, I'm willing to give it a try because I took the shot and am curious to see how it all plays out towards the end of the year. Only time will tell if taking the jab will pay off for me but knowing how things played out last year, I am still very skeptical. I've given every mandate and bylaw a chance at the beginning even if each one of them has so far done nothing to improve the quality of our lives. The masks, the capacity limits and social distancing measures enforced by businesses last year did not stop us from locking down for 8 months. The ICUs still filled up in the winter and spring in spite of all that. So let's see if the vaccine passports will do the trick in the fall. Let's see if it will benefit the businesses and protect them from lockdowns because lord knows the government loves to mandate bylaws under the guise that it will be beneficial for us.
