Why are there virtually no deaths in the LTC homes now? Because the vaccines work! Who cares if we have to get regular shots in the future? It's not a big deal. It's worth it to reopen.

This could be the answer, there could be another answer though. Darwinism. The strong survived the initial wave and have a stronger ability to fight off the virus than those who died. The people in the LTC homes now are people who were there when all the others died, why didn't they get sick and die at that time? They were not vaccinated back when the others were dying. I'm throwing out an alternative to the theory that the vaccine is the reason. So if some people are able to survive this virus without getting a vaccine is it really necessary to vaccinate everyone, or is it like a placebo where it becomes psychological, people feel better because something was done and others tell them it will be all better now?

Every drug has side effects. Serious vaccine side effects have been incredibly rare.

You blithely trumpeting your supposed imperviousness completely misses the point. All kinds of people have very low covid risk: hookers, children, etc.

Even if you feel safe, if there is any vulnerable group in society that is overwhelming the medical system then it appears no one can go anywhere or do anything: businesses won't open, families can't see each other, we can't visit the spa, etc. etc. etc.

We need to find out a way to completely minimize all people from getting sick and dying so we can get our lives and regular society back.

Exactly!!! I hear both sides of the argument and they're both valid. It comes down to choice. Whether you take the vaccine or not, either way you're taking a risk. If you take it, there's always a possible side effect. If you don't, you may get it and worse, if you're relatively healthy, society will be locked down longer until there'snothing left to reopen. I want my concerts, sporting events, gyms and spas so I will take the risk of getting inoculated. But for the risk to be worth it, most people have to take the plunge. I hope they do. What more can be taken from us that already hasn't been yanked away over the past year? The vax is the last of our worries. But that's just me.

I have relatives in their 90s in LTC homes. The homes went into strict lockdown. Nobody could go into see them and they obviously weren’t going outside. The home had to construct special outside glassed rooms to visit them and then only 1 visitor at a time. These rooms were in fact a bubble. Only facility staff could go in and out of the home. They are now vaccinated but those visitation conditions still apply. When there is an outbreak in a home they go into isolation protocols quickly and don’t allow commingling, common rooms were shutdown etc. Your Darwinism theory can only be considered if everyone in a home contracted Covid at some point where some survived and others didn’t. But that is not the case and they didn’t all get Covid as the homes did what they could to prevent that. Controls, isolation protocols and vaccinations were their tools.
