Biden’s charity was never setup to do actual research. It was an organization setup to promote more than 60 partnerships between researchers, dug companies, charities, etc. and help raise money for them. When money was raised a small portion went to Biden’s organization for salaries it the larger portion went directly to those partnerships. About $400 million as per this link. So, the money being discussed would represent less than 1% of the money raise. Since the monies went in different direction to different companies it would show up on different tax filings where Biden’s organization would recover salaries. Biden suspended the operations when he chose to run for President.

For the record, I would have preferred Kasich in 2016 over both Trump and Clinton as after 8 years of Democratic rule it was time for a Republican President. But Trump is not the traditional Republican and he’s pushed things too far to the right and America needed to pull things back toward the centre. The election results indicate that when you look how Trump lost but Republicans picked up seats in the House. It’s a signal to pull the President back to the centre from the alt-right and pull the House back to the centre from potentially going too far left.
