the queue pushers are the very people who make the queue worse - there is enough warning for goodness sake - we all manage to see the signs and pull over into the correct lane - why should I give way to the morons who dont! (I do accept that ever so occasionally people can genuinely get caught out and my rant does exclude them - just)

sorry live just off the M1 widening so it is a regular problem at the moment - have to remember to keep my windows up otherwise I would be thumped - not very holistic behind the wheel

Those ignorant, lazy, people who dump the used trolley anywhere but in the trolley parks. Wonder if theyd like it if a runaway trolley banged their front headlight or walloped the side of their car .

1. Rubbish drivers.

Those included are :

- ones who should give up (due to health reasons and diminishing faculties) and don't

- ones who should wear glasses/contact lenses to drive and don't (due to not being bothered getting their eyes tested or due to vanity)

- those who, instead of trying to improve their driving (i.e those who can't park properly etc) by paying for additional lessons, - just simply buy larger cars so that if they prang someone their vehicle won't get damaged so much - it's the other person who'll suffer more

- inexperienced drivers who just "pootle" about locally and tend to cause a lot of accidents or just drive poorly due to lack of experience. Driving during the day (i.e. outside rush hour times like between 9 and 4) or on Sunday mornings are difficult - as its at these times when these types of drivers are out and about.

- slow drivers who don't appear to know what their accelerator is for. Slow drivers are just as dangerous as fast drivers and you can fail a driving test for driving too slow. In some countries it's also illegal to hold up traffic.

2. Cyclists - those who cycle on pavements, weave in and out of traffic, cycle 1 or 2 abreast and don't stop at traffic lights. This also applies to scooters and some motorbike users as well.

Don't forget that 101 nominations are only that - nominations. Paul Merton has officially just told me that this nomination is rejected and won't go into Room 101 on the grounds that many of the audience are equally cheesed off at modern roads being in full control of motorists. Any idea how fretful and nigh-impossible it is to be a cyclist on any urban road today?

So off goes the sound-button, and the nomination is - rejected.

Anybody else wants to reject earlier nominations? I was thinking of how the thread brings out the worst in us, and perhaps a thread on Room "102" could be about all the wonderful things we nominate as being great.

BTW, where have I been? I didn't know that the TV show goes back to 1994! I only recently (2006) saw it!

I'd been looking it up on Wikipedia. I didn't know the name comes from a room in George Orwell's 1984!

Actually I do cycle and I often cycled when i was a child, in my teens and at college. I wasn't in the generation that passed the driving test and had a car straight away .

Before Mr. Merton plans to plunge me into obscurity - I never jump lights (traffic or pelican crossings), ride on pavements (but I do use cycle lanes), weave in and out of traffic, I ride fully visible and with lights on and passed my cycling proficiency test. I just object to the cyclists that do commit the aforementioned offences and think they're above the law.

Well, it wasn't you who was up for 101, but Paul m says you've twisted his arm and convinced him. Not all cyclists, but those who bahave the way that you stated, just got dropped into room 101. I saw the effigy go down, even failing to ring his bell!

(I occassionally ramble, and at odd times youcan find yourselves walking along narrow tracks such as by the side of a canal. I agree - I'd put the cyclists who also use these tracks into 101: they are continually coming up behind hikers ... and don't even have bells to use! You're continually wondering if a silent assassin is going to race by from behind - and what if you just happen to step two feel out to your side? So in they go too.)
