It's only 790 with the VIP card. If you don't have one, just ask for one at the counter. They also made it so you're guaranteed a full 80 mins of service. In fact if the girl ends the session early, she'll get fined 50 RMB for it (more if it's not the first time she did that in one day). I tried to leave early the other day to catch a train to Suzhou but she insisted that I stay for the full 80 mins since I didn't let the front desk know when I first came in. Dude, I went there. It's pretty expensive compared to XMH - 880 compared to 680(before 7pm). The girls are a bit better looking but you only get 60mins instead of 70. I heard there is a place in XuiJiaHui that's about 600 for 90mins and it's the whole package.

It used to look like that yeah. They've done some major re-modeling and name change since last year but the 2 columns are still there at the front entrance so it's easy to spot. The exact address is 418 Wuzhong road, near the intersection of Yaohong road.

There's another pretty decent sauna on Wuzhong Road called Jidao. Coming from the inner ring elevated expressway (Zhongshan xi Road), it is on your right hand side before you reach Guilin road. I am in Shanghai right now and it seems like things have calmed down quite a bit compared to before. The police isn't quite as zealous now that the National Day has passed. According to some of the girls and their handlers, things will be pretty relaxed for the next few months until about Feb-Mar of next year when public security will certainly start cracking down again to prepare the World Expo. Between now and then would be a good, hassle-free time to visit Shanghai so have fun!

On a side note, I hear that the sauna at Shanghai Hotel has re-opened for now. However it is still the Jiyuan (Yaohong) Sauna on Wuzhong Road that is currently packed with ladies. Seems like a lot of the girls who left other joints have migrated there. Last night I was there at about 9pm at night and all but one the rooms were in use (which I was luckily enough to get without waiting around like a schmuck). The kicker is that even though the place was packed, I will still able to choose from a line-up of about 25 girls which is the most I've seen in the fishbowl room at any given time. I will also check out the Golden 18 sauna that JW510 was talking about some time within the next week or so to see what it's like over there. apparently they operate in bars on tongren lu. two of them would agree to leave bar with a customer on an agreed price. while in the car, they would offer doped chocolate to the customer and when they arrived at the hotel or residence, they would rob the customer when he falls asleep, taking money, valuables and credit cards. they were caught while using those credit cards. the amount they stole were in the tens of thousands. so the lesson here is don't eat anything these people offer you, be alert. also it's easier to handle one person than two persons.

Don't normally try BBS but was on a wander and spotted about 6 all next to each other on Yinshan Lu (close to the junction with Jinkou Lu) in Pudong so by the time I had walked past number 4 I thought what the hell!

I've tried two of the parlors near zong shan bei lu / zen ping lu, there's like 6-8 of them in a row almost.

In light of the warnings of police crackdowns, I want to tell all of my experience tonight.

I took myself down to Songfa Road metro station toward the end of line 3. It is very different there to downtown Shanghai. The surroundings remind me a lot of a regional inland city rather than Shanghai.

It has been a super night, really. After a stressful few weeks, I've had the best time tonight that I have had for many months. Although I suspect my experience will (quite understandably) not appeal to all.

I found a strip of 7 or 8 BBS near West Yingao Road . Most of the girls were keen and beckoning me to go inside -- unlike in the downtown area where the majority of girls are doing their nails or watching TV and look away when you make eye contact. If they seem bored or disintersted in me, I am happy to reciprocate and walk-on.

After wandering around for over one hour, I called in at one place. Surprisingly, the girl said they "do not offer HJ but I could get BJ for Y150 or FS for Y200". The girl looked worse up-close than I expected, having seen her from the footpath. I declined and kept wandering. Eventually I saw a very cute girl inside a quiet-looking shop. This girl was great. Cute, young, enthusiastic. Mamasan and the girl both told me she is 18. No reason to argue with that.

Attitude of both mamasan and girl was wonderful. Very friendly and helpful. No B.S. at all. I'd rate her a 6.5. But for me the best part is she reminded me so much of a girl I knew many, many years ago, only more attractive (or maybe I'm just getting old...). She had this look happening straight out of the Almost Famous movie with Kate Hudson. Crimped, fuzzy hair, the colour and style of her clothes, lots of fur on the boots, jacket etc; and was even chewing strawberry-flavoured gum. Very much late 1960s / early 1970s. I admit to being a little anxious. But no problem. The mamasan (who looked quite tempting herself and was probably in her early-to-mid-30s) gave me my change and thanked me for my business. I commented on a 10 Euro note in her purse and she advised that "a foreign customer gave it to me!". I remember thinking: "I wonder if someone from this board had been into the shop before me!".

Came home, bought a Y15 bottle of wine and a couple of cheap cigars from a convenience store. I grabbed Y10 of cheap street food and sat outside having a very pleasant evening. Total damage for the night including subway fare

Unfortunately those scams are everywhere.. in Pattaya they advertise 50 bahts ( one dollar and a half ) lagers in some gogos but make sure you pay drinks to girls and at the end they put twice as many drinks on your bill. I noticed that but they didnt care I had to pay.. Ok not that big a harm... life is much more expensive in China..
I wonder what happens if you go to those 200 rmb massages and don't have a drink? do they force money out of you..

Urumaqi lu is a main road in jingan. shanghai hotel is on that road. lu means road.
As for safety, it's everybody on their own these days. You need some warning, then the girl dress quickly and you lie there pretending having a real massage. there's usually no time to escape.

Dunhillman, I would recommend either Golden 18 Club or Jiuyuan Sauna(formerly 999). Both are very clean, safe, and have excellent service. Golden 18 Club is probably closer to where you are staying, address is 209 Wulumuqi Road, 5th floor, pricing 880 RMB. Jiuyuan (or 999) is a bit further away on 999 Tianyaoqiao Road, but is a bit cheaper (680 RMB if you go before 6 or 7pm, 780 after that time).

It's about a 5 to 10 minute walk from Shanghai Hotel (depending on how long your legs are I suppose!). I have never been to the hotel although read a recent post that it has gone down in recent times. I would have no worries going to Golden 18 Club. The entrance isn't intimidating and when you go in lockers and service is good. Look at my review:
