OK I've been to Shanghai a few times. I lived there for a month at one point. and I've never heard of what ramesh is talking about. In Shanghai, if you are staying at one of the Chinese hotels, you will ALWAYS get a call at night, asking if you need any "services". Most likely you may even be approached by the staff of the hotel. And once, one of my friends got a knock on his hotel door at night, a lady walked in in and reeled of a list of services that she could immediately offer, like full screw, BJ,etc like some kind of restaurant menu! My friend was too stunned to react.

What is it?
When you want to use a Chinese program on a US or localized (Europe) Windows XP/vista, you need to set your "system locale" to Chinese and reboot your system in order for Windows to display the program properly. This is not very convenient and furthermore can cause problems with other programs (because of their installation path) and add the visual inconvenience of the infamous Yen "slash".

AppLocale basically allows you to tell programs "no dudes, you're not on a western system, you're on a Chinese one, so display proper Chinese language please!"

AppLocale tells your system to act as if it were Chinese, only for the programs of your choice, while no changes are done to your "system locale" and no reboot are needed, on the fly!!

IMPORTANT : AppLocale only works on Windows XP/vista and Windows 2003 Server.

Checked the two blocks of Courtyard, Baoban & Supreme Tower tonight (9:00pm - 10:30pm). Nearly nobody around. Found two girls only! One a high 3 or low 4 for me and the other something like a 5 in best case. Both clearly above 25 (or more) and not really worth it.

Just back from a week at the Sofitel (pudong side) in Shanghai.... Here's my report...
