Between the two cities I prefer the setup I experienced in Sao Paulo. Quality of women even in the lower scale places was much higher than one finds in the industry here: generally much younger (average early to mid 20s I would guess from my observations), at minimum very attractive, and often DDG. Depends on your tastes of course. Also the high end Sao Paolo bars were generally a better deal because of on-site facilities and were safe to pay using credit cards.

Last caveat: my info is about 15 years old, so relative prices and conditions may have changed. Rio is definitely more risky than Sao Paulo, and Brazil generally does require vigilance and staying reasonably alert. Avoid drinking too much and too quickly. Hobby on, amigos.

I was in St. Maarten where I met the Colombians. Sounds a little similar to Sao Paulo. There are something like 6 places, use to be a couple more but they shut down. Basically they are bars where girls work and have rooms on site. You can take them offsite but have to pay a bar fine unless you can connect with them when they are not working. No cover charge, just walk in and have a couple drinks and check out the ladies. Some will approach you and others will wait for you to approach them. Drinks are reasonably priced, about $2 to $3 US, same for shots, and most of the girls will drink a beer or have a shot. There are a couple expensive drinks but I have never met a girl who asked me to buy one of them for her. I did buy a pack of cigarettes for a girl once, think it cost me $3 US and I had a few girls ask me to take them to the beach the next day. Now all of this info is a couple years old as they had suffered from a hurricane a couple years ago and were just starting to reopen when the pandemic hit and shut everything down again. Most of the girls that work there are Colombian or Dominican. You might find a few from other places but these are the most common. I usually prefer the Colombians but I did meet a couple hot Dominicans. A lot of the girls only know basic English or none at all so I learned a little Spanish to help out with the conversation, not something that is necessary but what the hell. Oh there are also a couple of strip clubs where you can try and hook up with the girls as well, these are all take out places. One of the clubs has mostly Eastern European / Russian girls.
