Ditto. Some other threads about Costa Rico make it sound as if it were many times better than TJ. I was even getting up the gumption to start planning a trip there. The public reasons were to take in a Spanish immersion program and see the rain forests. The private reason was to check out the mongering scene. CR doesn't really sound any better than TJ (except for maybe the rain forests).

The last night in Monteverde I took out my laptop and again searched for hotels where I was going to stay. Since I was only with my son it's didn't have to be nice, and tried calling Hotel Morazلn in San Jose with "Skype" on my computer, but of course the ' Morazلn ' was full, because it's a well known 'monger' hotel in down town San Jose, or 'ground zero' as they call it where all the bars and MPs are close by. My next choice was the Hotel Castillo in the Barrio Amon central where I stay a few days earlier. On that popular Costa Rica site and International sex forum they give both the Morazلn and Hotel Castillo high marks, but in the back of my mind I'm thinking they are probably just above being dumps, and what the guiys really like they are chica friendly and decent compared to the other dumps in the area......being the rule of thumb that the really nice hotels in most major cities in the world aren't hooker friendly. Holliday Inn is one example, my friend stayed there, it's suppose to be a 3 star hotel remodeled into a 5 star hotel, it allows hookers in the hotel, but they might as well put a sign out the door, ' fuck you mongers' as the chica fee is $ 25 dollars. I was going to stay in the Holiday inn using the triple A discount of $120 a night, but I changed it to the less intense area away form downtown the Clarion hotel, but I friend recommended the Morazلn but they were full, and I could not get through to Hotel Castillo, and didn't want to book filling out that bullshit online and faxing shit back to them.

So instead of trying to stay at the Hotel Castillo I instead settled for the Hotel Hemingway right across from Hotel Castillo and more importantly very close to 'new Fantasy' the popular MP. The Hemingway was easy to book as it was on 'Expedia' a couple of clicks and I booked the standard room for $60 dollars. The Hemingway like the Castillo is just an old mansion with less than 20 rooms that has been upgraded, it's a beautiful hotel on the outside, and in fact is one of the most photographed landmarks in the area. But on the inside is another story, the hotel tries to be quaint little bed and breakfast with interesting colors, but the hotels falls short, in a word it's a 'dump' the rooms are very old, maybe has some ghosts in them? We got two twin beds, the ceiling fan didn't work and the place had no AC. The good news was the place was clean, the shower worked great, the hotel staff friendly, and the Internet signal was strong enough that I could use it in my room, but man was the hotel noisy, and you could hear the traffic in the morning as it woke you up.

I think the reason why the Hemingway doesn't get as high a rating as the Castillo is because they charge a $10 chica fee, but I didn't care as I wasn't going to take a chica to my room. The best deal I think was the maid, she was young and kept looking at me like she was available for maybe $10 bucks? There free continental breakfast looked like shit, and I didn't want to hang out with these old men looked to be about 70 years old, and possibly old mongers?

The room didn't really matter because it took 5 1/2 hours to get to San Jose from Monteverde, the last hour spend trying to locate my kids luggage they gave to some European travelers who didn't speak Spanish or English, but we did get the suitcase back and I decided I wasn't going to complain as the guy was new and made a mistake, but man was I tired from all the hiking in the mountains and then that long bus ride back to town, but some how I got the energy to go out into the town for my last night.

I want to address three things in this post

1st off you can go to Thailand and get whatever it is you're looking for whether its skinny or curvy, I'm like bohemian, I love curvy women & Thailand has never left me wanting. The last time I was there I picked up a girl from a bar in Bangkok that had the roundest, firmest, tightest ass I had laid up with in years. Take my word I know a great ass, my icon is my wife.

These requests for money is only or probably mostly to those "unfortunate" PLM guys like I was once before. When one exchanges numbers and is in some contact with the girls over the phone/text, the next thing some of these girls will do is request for money. They fall back on you or try to get easy, sometimes they genuinely have problems, sometimes its a rip off. Again this is only with the PLM mongers, normally the girls will not just ask you Money for nothing, it is only when one crosses the line and tries to develop a "relation" with the lady. Heard about requests for money, yes. But have never experienced them. I like to bring a small present when I monger with an escort (and sometimes for a BG or SG if I have a particular one in mind). It seems to ratchet up the "passion play" with the chica (which is important to me). But not a one has ever come back with phony requests for money or more extravagant gifts. I haven't had any of those experiences yet with Mexican ladies yet, as I'm sure others had. But as vets of both scenes I prefer Mexico over Thailand, based on traveling time being 2 hours vs. 24 hours.

I also like the fact that I haven't seen one Mexican gal start a fight with a friend over a stupid dance contest that the friend was judging. In fact if any fights I've seen in Mexico at La Casas, its always one girl fighting another.

Oh Fireballs I know what you mean. First time before I even went to Thailand everybody was talking how much better than Mexico it was. What a misconception. It is nothing more than a sex tourism place and that's it. Sure you have SOME touristy things to do in Thailand. But not as many as Mexico. What I enjoyed most about Mexico is you get your business done with your girl, and she doesn't develop a complex when you don't barfine her again. I got out the Navy back in 2006. All I have to say is that the armed forces are not fucking around with services member paying for poon. The Navy is the perfect place if you want to travel on a ship to go to other countries to get laid but that is starting to change, and from my experiance in living in a boat it sucks. I didn't know the Marines were banned from visiting Tijuana in 2001. I was talking about the more recent changes, something about guys getting a court-martial if they get caught in a place like Thailand with a hooker, and the reason being they didn't want to contribute to Sex trafficking. It was big news on these boards a few years ago, with guys blaming the Bush Administration for the changes. After the two hour hike we did in the Reserva I told the guy to call me a cab because time was running short. This was the second time I had to deal with 'ugly Americans' the first was on the trip from San Jose to Jaco, where our bus is almost full and we pull up to the Best Western Hotel, and this American who looks like Woody Harrison starts screaming I'm not going to get in the van with those people! I don't know who he was referring too but the bus had a mixture of white, Latins, and old and young people. He was demanding another van, screaming that they were going to put his luggage on top of the van, and he didn't want that. The people who worked for 'Grayline' and the hotel tried to calm the guy down, finally they just told him if he is going to get in the van or what? The dude gets in the van with a pissed off face on, while the rest of us are shaking our heads, thinking 'what an asshole!'

The second time dealing with ugly Americans was at the Reserve when this American couple tried to steal my cab they called for me, but they couldn't speak any Spanish and didn't get in the cab because they thought he was trying to cheat them? I come over and the representative of the park reserve comes over and tells them the cab is for me, but asked me if I mind sharing a cab with them. I said I don't mind, the fair was going to be 3700 colones. We get in and the couple starts to tell us how all the taxis try to cheat them, with this driver being no exception, and how lucky they were that we came along because the taxi driver was getting ready to fuck them. keep in mind the taxi driver could hear all this and could speak a little bit of English, but understand more then he could speak.

Then the lady asked me to pay the taxi driver, she gives me $1.60 American dollars and says that's right isn't it? I said no, I said we were going to give the taxi driver 2000 Colones, about $4 dollars, and to make it easy they should do the same, with a little tip for the taxi driver.Then the lady starts to tell me that she doesn't think I'm right, but I explain to her it's very easy, he is the way I do the exchange thing in my head. I take out the zeros of a amount like 2000 colones, and then double it which makes it 4, that's equal to $4 dollars. Suddenly, the taxi driver jumps in and says 4000 colones for the whole group, and we say OK. We let the couple out first, and they give the taxi driver the 2000 colon of course no tip, and they are staying in one of the most expensive places in Monteverde. Fucking ugly Americans because in Latin America, I can't stand to see it, as it makes me ashamed to be American like they are.

If there was once complaint I heard and read it's from the taxi drivers in Costa Rica, as they are similar to taxi libre in Tijuana. A lot of those fuckers don't want to turn on meter, called "la Maria" in Costa Rica, having something to do with honesty and religion. I didn't have much of a problem with taxi drivers except outside the Clarion hotel where I asked him the price to go about a mile away, and he said $3 US dollars, it should have been $1 or $2 dollars at the most, but if you negotiate a price up front with them, that's what they charge you. In hind site I would have just had him turn on the 'maria' and gave him a buck. From then on I leaned not to take a taxi from my hotel, but rather the street. But I could see how people who love to fight with taxi drivers in Tijuana, would love to fight with them in Costa Rica too. Burt would have a field day in Costa Rica, getting pissed off at the taxi drivers if they tried to short change him. LOL. It should be noted a lot of taxi driver don't speak English or want to, so I could see American tourist getting ripped off or have communication problems with these taxi drivers especially since it's not a custom to tip them.
