Cost for equipment rental??

I work for myself; renting space in a small spa that has 3 treatment rooms. Up until now, I have had one room all to myself. I pay $500 a month for it which includes utilities, cleaning, website, etc. I love it there, it has been great for my business, the owners are wonderful to work with, and my business has been good for them- they are estheticians.

So, my rental contract has been for Tues-Friday and every other Saturday. I told them when I signed on with them, I'm ok with sharing a room for the days I'm not there but I want my own things in it (mainly my own massage table). They didn't seem to think that was a problem, since they didn't think they could rent the room out for 1-2 days a week, anyway.

Fast forward to today, and they have an acupuncturist that wants to rent one day a week. Well, I think I should be compensated for her using my equipment. I told them I absolutely was not going to be taking down and putting up my massage table once a week; nor did I think that this new person wants to haul a table into the spa. I also pointed out to them that I didn't think they were prepared to furnish the room for us. (They agreed they weren't.)

I just threw out the figure of $20 compensation for me a month, because they wanted a figure, and one of the partners said she didn't think the acupuncturist would go for it at that price. So, I said, well why don't you ask her what she thinks would be fair.

I'm not trying to make money off of this, but just get compensated for wear & tear, and want what's fair. Has anyone been in this position? What do you all think is appropriate for someone using your table, etc. 4-5x a month?

I'm not sure, but I'd want some sort of contract written up w/ the acupuncturist, so that they would be responsible for any damage done to your table!

I haven't been in this situation before, but off the top of my head I think I would charge a perceneforum.xxxe PER TREATMENT the acupuncturist performs, so that it actually is a reflection of the USE your table gets. I would think something that works out to a couple bucks per TX (or less) would be fair. Writing up an agreement also sounds good.

I think either a perceneforum.xxxe or flat fee/month could work. Maybe poll around your area and find out what it would cost to rent equipment, often places will rent tables and chairs. And then base it on that, cut the accupuncturist a deal if you like, but they should pay for the use of equipment. Get it in writing, along with something about replacing equipment should something get damaged.

Along those lines, be stringent on an equipment log. all too often it is easy to keep using the same equipment and not check it out regularily. It may become tedious, but check your equipment daily, and ask the accupuncturist to do the same thing, and log everything. That way if there is any damage done, it can be found quickly, and repaired.

you might also want to have written something about linnens, bolsters, and lubricants. Do you provide, or does the accupuncurist bring in their own? Sounds petty, but the cost for laundry will add up quickly for you if you do your own

The school salon (massage school with many available rooms rentable by the hour) charges $5 per hour or $25 per day for the use of a room with table.

If that helps you figured out a ballpark amount.
