Brandon Tatum is the man! An independent thinking, successful, well-spoken Black man whose existence Woke America denies because he does not stick to "the script". Anyway, this video just shows again why only certain Black lives matter. The title says it all. Hopefully America has turned a corner. We have to wait another six weeks for sentencing. For me as well as everyone else I hope this is the inflexion point, that things start getting better from here.

I think what will inevitably become recognized, whether it takes 20 years or 200, is that these days facts don't really matter to the entities that control most of what forms the public consciousness. I know I sound like a broken record sometimes, but there are no news reporters anymore, just activists. And this is true for both sides of the political aisle, though because there are more of them, the left has an outsized effect.

BLM now enjoys pretty well unqualified support from most media, corporations and all levels of government, and the public is woefully ignorant of what the organization actually stands for and believes. It's not like information--based on uncontroversial statistics--is not widely available. People like Heather MacDonald and Tatum have been out there for years, they are voices in the wilderness. They get called racists and Uncle Tom for pointing out the painfully obvious. The searing irony is that it is black people who will again suffer for this, because it does not matter how many "equity" programs get put into place, whether you believe in them or not, facts determine reality.

Whatever you think of BLM the evidence against Chauvin was overwhelming. If a member of the jury lied about his involvement with BLM during jury selection then that idiot needs to be held accountable and Chauvin deserves a retrial, which I think will lead to him being found guilty again. I do want Chauvin held accountable, but the right way.

Well I'm out of my depth there. As an ordinary Joe, I'd say he deserves to lose ten years of his life for what he did.

From the evidence, it seems that he at the very least held a man down while he was exclaiming that he couldn't breathe, and any claim that he did so in case the guy went crazy is not credible given that there were plenty of other officers there and that Floyd was handcuffed. But, I'd be prepared to revise my "shoot from the hip" estimate either up or down based on evidence.

I was aware of that, but I confess that the nuance between 2nd degree murder without intent and the equivalent of manslaughter or whatever the charge is down there, is lost on me.

From what I understand, they found Chauvin guilty of murder because the action he took killed Floyd and he should have known that it would kill. The comparison I've heard is of someone firing a weapon into a crowd. They don't intend to kill a specific person, but they are responsible for any death that results from the indiscriminate shooting. I understand people will disagree with me, but to my mind interpreting Chauvin's actions as being comparable to shooting into a crowd is not right. Whether or not he used his training correctly, it is clear that officers are trained to restrain with a knee on a suspect's back or neck and we know that in very similar circumstances suspects have died with no resulting charges against police.

Again, any honest person should ask themselves if Floyd's race played a part in this. If you think it did, that should give you some misgivings about the trial.
