Then you must not be maintaining your cars properly. I drove a million kilometers on 2 GM vehicles, and I still have one of them, and it's still going strong. I had one before those, which I traded up, because I wanted an upgrade. And there was nothing wrong with that one either. I never needed to drive other brands, because I never had to.

Of the cars you listed, Chrysler, Nissan, VW, Tesla, are all garbage. BMW, and Mercedes are both money pits after 6 years.

You have only driven GM cars but your knowledge of other brands seems vast. I find it amusing that It is I who is not maintaining the vehicles that is the issue in your mind. Maybe your are willing to put up with poor design, poor build quality, rattles rust and recalls but I am not. The reliability reports from Consumer Reports, US News, ACSI, J D Power etc, etc, etc. says it all. If you are happy with crappy then enjoy your GM. I prefer quality and products. Drive anywhere in Toronto and count the number of GM vehicles vs just Toyota or Honda Or VW. Aside from trucks it is no contest. Even with trucks I would buy a F150 over GM. Most construction sites have F150 as the most popular truck. I guess that logic, consumer choice and market share mean nothing when you have blind brand loyalty.

I do have a vast knowledge of different vehicles because I have read about them since I was a kid. I have only driven GM vehicles because I haven't had any reason to switch to a different brand. You don't believe me, because you don't have a clue, and haven't seen it. It is you who say I enjoy putting up with garbage, after I have told you my vehicles have lasted longer than and driven farther than other people's Hondas and Toyotas. You are called the doubting Thomas because you haven't seen what my experience is. And you don't know how the auto industry works. The car manufacturers only assemble cars for the most part. Most parts that go into cars are not produced by the car manufacturers themselves. They purchase their parts from other companies called parts suppliers. GM produces their own motors and transmissions for the most part. Aside from that, just about all the parts are made from outside companies. FYI, a couple of years ago, Toyota and Chrysler had a massive recall because their air bags were garbage. Both of them purchased air bags from Takata. GM never had a problem with air bags, because they used a different supplier. So, I will use the same reasoning you are using. Toyota is garbage for installing shitty air bags. That's just a small example. Just before that, again there was another government mandated recall for every single Toyota because their brakes were shit. I am happy to say that my last 2 GM vehicles never had a single recall. But of course you are the doubting Thomas who won't believe it because you haven't seen it.

You go off naming Mercedes, BMWs, and Teslas as great cars. Anybody can make expensive cars that the average person can't afford. Sure they are good when they are new, but after a few years, they are endless money pits. Grossly expensive parts that you can only get through new car dealerships with high markups and expensive repairs that your average mechanic can't or won't fix. I had a friend who told me over 10 years ago that the transmission on his Mercedes cost him over 10 grand to replace. Imagine how much it would cost now. I have no need for those cars that designed and purposely made to get people to empty their bank accounts.

PS. No rust on my last 3 GM vehicles. You never heard of washing your car? Duh, what's that?

I am not a licensed mechanic but have have gone to Centennial and I have 2 certificates. One for auto body and the other for mechanical. I do all the maintenance myself. I have a car lift in my garage. My type R has never seen winter. It has won a couple of awards at different import car shows. Before you throw some fucking stones my way you should ask about my car knowledge first dip shit. Ask any car engineer out there what they think of Chrysler and GM and then get back to me. Just because you settle for shit cars does not mean that your standards are any good.

Exactly. I fully agree. GM has made the decision not to build cars where they are being sold. Up until now, Canadians have purchased around the same amount of GM cars, as GM has built in Canada. Mexicans can't purchase the cars that GM builds there.

He said that GM told him, " No, the ship has sailed." Those were his exact words. After that, he simply sat on his hands. Ford didn't do anything at all to set up any meetings or discussions with GM. As Trudeau's misguided policies continue to drive businesses out of Canada, putting more people out of work, the question must be asked: why are our taxes continuing to support these "refugees"?
