Totally agreed.....I just want to kick these guys in the nuts everytime I walk down Bangla......they shove those stupid offensive plastic menu cards in your face just when you don't expect it.....twisted my ankle of a grate one time trying to escape from this detritus!!!!!

and they do it guys walking down Bangla with their families too....I've even seen them do it to guys pushing babies in prams......this practice should be outlawed.....now who's the Patong sherrif again!!!

They are the main reason for Soi SeaDragon's demise, well amongst other issues as well. The only people to blame are as you say, the bar owners who continue to pay these scum.

The number of nights I stood in the soi and just watched the number of people that had intended to walk down the soi, only to turn away when confronted with this garbage, is well unbelievable.

Sursak did issue an order sometime ago, that the number of these guys was to be limited, and it was initially controlled quite well, but sadly as is the case with everything, they soon reappeared in force again.

Well yeah, it reminds the people that have been to bangkok of patpong probably and we all know what the scum in patpong are like...

The people walking by probably think its a dirty dingy and dodgy rd.

I make a continual point of always confronting the lizard, eagle and gibbon guys and also telling any tourists doing the pics how they are encouraging the practice. Somehow though I feel much more so about the gibbon and eagle than the lizard.. Dunno why..

Theres an eagle guy at Kata viewpoint regularly.

By campaigning in the gazette and making a lot of noise about it they did get pushed on for a while.. then I went to Samui and they (same ones) were in Soi green mango

Hi, I was in Rock (Limp) Hard again, just to see if it improved any from my last visit..... Still the same lazy pole hangers with very little dancing ...or should I say shuffling Virtually no interaction with the customers. Average drinks at premium prices. This place has played the same music it has been playing for the last 10 years. I was told there was a manager named Jeff but the staff could not locate him. The good point was that this time I did not get ripped off by the staff this time and recived the correct change!

Hi All . . .

I agree wholeheartedly with the posters concerning the exploitation of various animals by unscrupulous Thais, to obtain various sums of money in exchange for photographs. I also agree that the existence of far too many touts, continually pushing menus and drinks discount cards in your face while you are trying to mind your own business, is counter-productive in promoting any form of good-will.

My pet hate, however, is the existence of time-share touts! I really only noticed them in significant numbers, in April this year, although I know they have been around for years. They seemed to be either of British or Euro extraction, and teams of two or three, were strategically spaced out along the length of Bangla.

When I am in Patong, I always spend an hour or two each afternoon in The Shipwreck Bar, which is my favorite spot for a quiet drink or six, whilst just relaxing and indulging in one of my favorite pastimes - People-Watching. Nice staff and good (not too loud) music.

These time-share touts were a real pain in the a**! One in particular, French, I think, was a loud-mouthed, obnoxious moron, who seemed to prey on families of unsuspecting tourists heading for the Beach. His patter seemed to contain nothing but loud and grating exclamations of delight, as his innocent victims scratched the usual prize card, thus qualifying for the next seforum.xxxe in the scam.

As far as I am concerned, the sooner this scum is stamped-on, and totally eradicated the better!

also agreed PDM3.....it's a pratice happenning in most resort type towns these days....same same Bali Spain or Greece.....

at least they are generally euroscum so you can give them a good blast back.....but they do like to get good looking Thai gals involved as well so sometimes you've gotta hold yer tongue....
