This all seems to be an argument about the lesser of two evils. How about the vice presidential candidates? Both Trump and Biden have a significant chance of dying in the next four years, so which VP is the least bad choice?

BTW, everyone, when I finally made a profile, I had sworn to myself that I would avoid engaging in any politics on this board. LOL I guess I can't keep my own promises. I would like to get back to sharing info on the hobby any day now.

I disagree this being the choice of lessor of two evils, amigo. Trump is the embodiment of everything that democracy does not represent. He has completely dishonoured the relatively proud legacy of the Republican party and is using increased presidential powers and his notoriety to undermine the institutions that have kept America, for all its failings, relatively stable and evolving for 200 years. Biden does not represent anywhere near that level of menace. Nor for that matter do the most extreme leftist elements of the Democrats. At least the Dems are still expressing support for the fundamentals of the constitution. Trump only cares about staying in power because of his out-of-control ego and narcissism and for long enough for the statute of limitations to expire on his numerous tax frauds.

I was just characterizing the arguments presented, and I agree with you. Put another way, Biden was not in my top three choices choice of all the democratic candidates, but I would take him any day over Trump. Same goes with the VP - Harris was also not in my top three choices, but I will take her any day over Pence. And just to get our resident conspiracy theorist @altaguetta to cum in his pants with delusions of intellectual superiority, I would have voted for Bernie Sanders. I think North America has a huge potential for success with some really big structural and social changes. Despite being old and beat up, I still have the idealism I had in University.

I already have $1,000 on a Trump landslide, none of the people I’m betting were willing to put up more. Sleepy child sniffing Joe has been in office 47 years and done nothing of note other than incarcerate millions of blacks with his 1994 crime bill and get him and his family wealthy with shady deals like Burisma. I'm curious to know why people hate Trump so much. He is arrogant, he is a blowhard, he is egotistical, he lies. Okay that about describes just about any politician.

Some of the things I remember from the 2016 election"

- it was said he was a racist and was going to send all blacks to Africa and all latinos to Mexico. Note he hasn't done this, he has had ICE step up and start gathering up people who are in the US illegally to have them deported. On top of not rounding up all minorities, minorities have some of the highest employment in quite a while.

- he was suppose to start world war 3. Instead of starting WW 3, he is the first president in over 30 years that has not sent troops to a new war under his term. He has also brokered (his team) a peace deal with Israel and other mid east countries. He has had peaceful talks with North Korea, the first president to do this in quite a while.

- he was suppose to be the puppet of every dictator or foreign country in the world. He has taken a hard line with China to try and equalize trade. He pulled the wool over the eyes of the Canadian trading team and set up a deal with Mexico and this forced Canada to accept scraps to get in on the deal. Being a Canadian it sucks but you can't blame Trump for standing up for the US, that is who he is suppose to stand up for, wish we had politicians in Canada that would do that for Canadians.

- the Kyoto deal he pulled out of, but check to see how Canada or any other country is meeting its commitments to the deal. At least Trump admitted they were not going to meet the terms so just pulled out instead of pretending that they were actually doing something.

I guess people just don't like his look, his attitude, or his demeanor. I'm not a big fan either but I don't hate the person and some of the things he has done I actually agree with. Wish he would pull the US troops out of some of the war zones where they are currently located as I don't see what good they are actually doing, this would be one of my biggest complaints about him.

Anyway, would just be curious to understand why others really hate him. What policy, trade agreement, law, or whatever has he put into place that you really disagree with or is it all based on your feelings and distaste for the person himself?

There are intelligent liberals who are able to dissect and criticize Trump's policies because they are educated about the issues and therefore have principles that they stick by through thick and thin. Kudos to them.

Sadly, the loudest ones are those who are only liberals by default. These are the ones who only read the headline, not the entire article. They only listen to sound bytes, not the whole interview/speech/debate. They take the mainstream media at face value and dismiss any other outlet as fringe propaganda. They downplay discussions that challenge conventional belief as conspiracy theories because they're too intellectually lazy to think outside the box. Their opinions are formulated by what they hear from CNN, MSNBC, CBS, The New York Times, Washington Post and Hollywood celebrities who for the most part are just as uneducated as they are. There are so many things to criticize Trump for and yet none of these sheep have a single legitimate critique of the president. It's all ad hominen attacks and common buzz words they hear from the media like 'racist', 'fascist', 'sexist', 'xenophobe' blah blah blah. Orange man bad, he's racist because he wants to build a wall, he said ALL Mexicans are rapists, he brags about sexually assaulting women... any other lame attack?

I seen this happen in Canada during the last election, and to top it off, because one of the candidates wanted to defund the CBC you can imagine where their programming came with regards to the candidate. Anything the opposition said was quoted at face value about the person and of course they were not going to tell the whole story they just gave their spin on the content. This was picked up by the media and replayed over and over.

Its too bad they couldn't have intelligent debates with pros and cons on both sides of the issues but instead just rant and rave and just repeat how bad this person is or that person. In Canada I do not like any of the major parties, heck do not even like most of the minor parties. But what I also find amusing is so many people think politicians are actually smart. I actually know a couple of people who went into politics, both provincial and federal and trust me, the ones I knew were not brain surgeons, heck one I knew in University and he was failing. He ended up getting elected and became health minister for one of the provinces. Oh, and the degree he was failing wasn't even in medicine.

Yes because I don't identify as a Republican, Conservative, Libertarian, right winger, center right or any other label that tries to limit people by putting them in a box. If I am any of the above based on my set of beliefs, so be it. At the end of the day, I vote for whoever I feel has my best interests. Donald Trump is that guy to me. I will never vote Joe Biden because he represents the status quo like Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer or even Republicans like Dubya or Mitt Romney. It's laughable that people actually see any of these dinosaurs as agents of change. What makes them anymore believable today than they were 40+ years ago?

Pelosi, alongide her nephew, Gov. Gavin Newsom and Kamala Harris have run the once beautiful San Francisco into the ground. Homeless people all around defacating anywhere and everywhere while leaving needles on the ground. Taxes up the ass. Gang violence. Illegal immigrants running rampant due to San Fran being a 'sanctuary city'. And these are the so-called superheroes that will save America from the evil Orange Man? Why? Because they use the right words and a softer tone when they speak unlike Trump who's openly abrasive, arrogant and self-absorbed? No wonder it's easy to paint Trump as the bad guy and an easy scapegoat for everything that goes wrong.
