Interesting report about Riga. I had a disaster there in October 2006 and keep posting my original post to help others that think Riga is an OK place to go to meet women. Riga is NOT the place to go to meet women. Here is the posting of my original trip report.

This is my trip report about Riga.

I went to Riga and I can honestly say I was VERY DISAPPOINTED.

There are SO MANY beautiful girls in Riga, but now that they are in the EU and NATO, the entire concept of "free sex" and almost "paid sex" does not exist there anymore. Unless you can live there for 3-6 months, don't bother even trying for free sex. It is slow torture there as you see so many hot girls, but can't do anything with them. This is a summary of how the mission unfolded:

I arrived there and was driven to my apartment. The cost of the 15 minutes taxi ride was 25 Euros. A complete rip off but at least I got there safe as it was late at night. All taxis in Riga are a complete rip off. Do not use them. Just walk. Riga is not a large place.

I quickly set up base in the apartment and then tried to call some of the massage, escort numbers in my "Riga This Night" guide in the apartment. The problem was that the telephone in the apartment only allowed for me to call select numbers (land line only). But ONE number worked for the escort site. So I called it to get a dose of what Latvia had to offer. So, they told me they will send some girls over and I could pick. I waited outside and then three Russian girls walked by and said that I could pick which one. All were in the 4-6 range and not very hot. But the one brown haired Russian girl was ok and I picked her. We went up to the apartment and she said it was 60 lats ($120.00) for the hour. This is much money to pay for average quality. The sex was ok though. It entailed BBBJ/FS. We did it twice in the hour and it was good, but not great. I used the service a few more times as well. It got worse each time. Waste of time and money. To call the other agencies you have to buy a phone card and then walk to the damn pay phone to call. You can find super model quality escorts for ($500 to $900) in the book, but why would you pay that money for that!!! Just use your bloody hand!!!

NOTE: There is also a big difference between RUSSIANS in Latvia and LATVIANS. The Latvians are indifferent to foreign people going to Riga, but the Russians do not like foreigners at all. Use caution in Russian areas. THE RUSSIANS IN LATVIA ABSOLUTELY HATE AMERICANS.

THE STRIP CLUBS IN RIGA ARE TRAPS. DO NOT GO THERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. YOU WILL GET RIPPED OFF!!!! I LOST HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS THERE FOR NOTHING!!!!!! My bill was $700.00. Absolute bullshit.

Next, I bought a phone card. I called all the numbers from www.ladylux.lv website and NONE worked. I think that website is a dead link. Again, another wasted effort.

Met some girls from MySpace in Riga. Went out with them and bought them drinks/dinner. Then they went home. Free drinks and dinner for them. That's nice........I could have done that back home.

Met some UK guys, Scottish guys, and a Norwegian. All got ripped off at the strip bars and few if any got any action from the escorts. The UK guys were especially banged up. I often found them drunk in the Irish Pub. One guy was so messed up that I found him with the door open to the shitter, passed out, pants down to his ankles!!! Funny as shit!!!!

But this shows that the party in Riga is OVER. No idea why guys go there. I canceled my trip to Ukraine to go to Riga and now think I made a mistake. If you like LOOKING at pretty girls, drinking expensive beer, and walking around looking a old stuff, Riga is great. But for a hard core monger, go to Thailand or Costa Rica.

We are from The Netherlands. We've just been to Riga, Latvia. Most local people think if they see a couple or a group of guys, they are sex tourists. So, most people in clubs, bars, pubs, AND ESPECIALLY STRIPCLUBS (of course I've also read that all over the internet) RIP YOU OFF in every way!. The girls who work there are also part of these scams in ALL of RIGA AND I think in ALL of LATVIA!. Shame on the European union to let LATVIA join?! There is still a lot of corruption going on in this system AND the POLICE will HELP those CLUBS also in RIPPING off TOURISTS.

If you want to have a good time with girls NEVER pay up front, but PAY in your APARTMENT or HOTEL. Otherwise they will have some EXCUSE to go to the toilet and you NEVER see them again AND your money GONE..! In our case it was 300 LAT (which is around 400 EURO).

The same with TAXI'S, negiotiate a PRICE beforehand and THEN go in the TAXI otherwise they will RIP YOU OFF also. AND also try to learn the language a bit, cause they might curse you are something and you don't know it.

I will put some pictures on the internet soon from CLUB MARY (Stripclub). AVOID two goodlooking RUSSIAN girls (OR ANY OTHER GIRL) standing in front or working inside. Don't go with them to ANY club AND don't BUY them ANY drink. Just go IMMEDIATELY to your ROOM and negiotiate there. They'll try to bring you to some club and in our case STEAL your BAG or BELONGINGS and leave without a trace.

ALL of these people in bars, clubs etc. WORK WITH EACH OTHER to RIP OFF TOURISTS!!!. BEWARE!.

AVOID (in Old Town):
CLUB MARY (DO NOT ENTER ANYWAY, they said they were working here and we also passed this stripclubs a few times)
CLUB ROXY (the girls knew the staff working here)
And also beware in CLUB ESSENTIAL.
