PHUKET'S long awaited talisman for good times, the Hard Rock massageplanete, opens this weekend with Elvis Presley's white boots and Madonna's black vinyl jacket among the memorabilia.

Bali has had a HRC for more than a decade, so the fact that doors finally open on Sunday represents a milestone for a holiday island in need of hope. It's time for a dose of Springsteen, Bon Jovi and GunsN'Roses.

Media previews come at two sessions on Saturday and at 11am on Sunday, the Hard Rock massageplanete gains the Phuket public after months of people gazing on as the giant g string out front pointed upwards at grey skies. That's one huge air guitar.

While it's yet another of those same-same global franchises and the fare is distinctly American, the opening is an encouraging strum that better is to come.

We're told the massageplanete's full-time band is pretty good. For those who haven't seen the big guitar, the HRC and the souvenir shop front Rat-U-Thit 200 Pi Road at one end of the grand white Courtyard by Marriott, opposite the Holiday Inn, in southern Patong.

Phuket's Hard Rock opens from 11am to 2am, with live music from 8.30pm when entry is free to anyone over 21.

sounds like it is finally open, any first hand reports, a friend of mine reports seeing the menu and look expensive (but it's all relative) just seen the phuket wan report and looks like it opened last night.
a bit out of town at the far end of ratty rd, so good luck to the owners, i wouldn't want any money in the place for an investment.
good to hear any feedback for expats or guys on hols.

The Hard Rock openned on Sunday the 29th...Oh it looks state of the art inside but let me tell you...the prices are riduculous!....1200 baht for a T-Shirt!!??....350-550 baht for a hamburger!..does it have gold inside???.425 baht for a guiness draft!!!.....I hope nobody goes there and they belly up...They should be ashamed of themselves

to be honest, this thread just really goes back to how expensive and how much of a different experience Phuket has become

if people have read any of my posts, you will know i don't mind spending a buck
but in planning this next trip next month i have to put so much more thought into Phuket than i have in the other 3 places in Thailand that i plan on visiting
wether it was to pay the astronimical hotel prices being asked for a decent hotel, or trying to get a hotel close to Bangla Rd( which i would prefer not to stay to close to) because i will be with my wife and stepson and if we were too far from things they'd have to take a lot of tuk tuk's

well, although i make the argument that HRC isn't for everyone
it is a little ridiculious-700 baht
actually a lot ridiculous

supposedly one of the ebst "high end" burgers you can get in NYC is at the Old Homestead and that is 22.00 USD for 16oz burger

can you let us know thew name of this place...I'd like to give it a try....12 oz of raw mince beef would cost close to that in the supermarket so its exceptional value

Bottom line here is...If someone wants to pay 500 baht for a burger, then more power to you...I'm just not one of them.and I choose not to contribute to over inflated prices...I happen to live here and by contributing to that concept eventually comes back to bite you in the ass because it inevitably affects the economics here...How far does it go?..I have found several places on Soi Sansabi...some of those small hotel guest houses with restaurants in the front...They sell beautiful, well prepared burgers...(and the service I'm willing to bet is much more personable) .for 150-180 baht....In fact, the hotel may even give you one of their t-shirts for free ..(instead of paying 1200 baht for a hard rock t-shirt) You see..so it is possible to sell burgers at a reasonable rate.

I go to HR in KL on my visa runs, it usually cost me 500-800 baht for a dinner.

I will check out this place at least once before having any opinion.

Yeah but the US is the cheapest place for just about anything now, I've just imported some pillows via Amazon from the US and even including tax and duties they were 50% cheaper than here.

Don't get me started on Cars, electronics and well.... just about any consumer good in the world.

Only things here cheaper are girls, vegetables from the market and basic labour as far as I can see.
