Sorry, Paul, I had to giggle. Poor ol' Volkyrie, just trying toalter that massage so that his client wasn't comfortable enough to get a stiffy! To be serious, though, I do get your point about not 'stroking' instead of massaging. That's a quality-of-massage issue, not a sensuality one. I'd never compromise on technique solely in order to avoid a client gettingan erection- surely it's not an issue?

It's normal and involuntary, it happens for some people, it means nothing sexual. It has happened with a few of my clients - all married ones - and I maybe chuck an extratowel over it, ignore it and get on with the massage. It's not an embarrassment if you're not embarrassed.
I alsomention the possibility of it happeningin the initial consultation before the first treatment and as it's at the back of every bloke's mind they always seem relieved to know that I don't care. As confidentiality is also explicitly part of the therapist-client contract, they have nothing to get anxious about.

All that said, I don't mind a client wearing pants, it's useful to be able to tuck a towel into the elastic to keep it in place. Just not boxers as they limit access to the glutes.
We had fairly puritanical tutors on my course who made sure I never saw a woman's nipple and never, ever a glimpse ofa client'sgenitals! They might have been a bit extreme but I approve of the general principle.So undies or not, your towel etiquette should keep a client feeling secure and respected.

Interesting about the reaction to that oil...

Hi everyone. Like the initiator of this thread, I've been lucky enough to experience a fully naked massage some time ago, but can't find a suitable therapist in London. (okay, there are the seedy types, but that's certainly not the type of thing I'm looking for!) Does anyone have any suggestions???

Thanks for this post,of course many genuine clients such as your slef,and i dont want to rule them out thats why i started trating men aswell as ladies.you need it as much as ladies,on professional front im highly trained and believe in following code of ethics prof image includes clints always coverd.dont agree with disposable pants though yukk i agree.i ask clients to wear own underwear mentioning wear old ones if dont want oil on them.Im more trained to massage all areas of body without prodding person or making them feel uncomfortbale.naked massage no,more done in europe. also as therapist know giving good massage means client will warm up then get very cold due to cooling down process after circulation stimulted with variety of pressures.im in london so cant help you out unless you travel to london that is for therapy.
i move clinet underwaer if have permission and agood therapist should be able to know by body language aswell as communication what a client feels comfortable with.massage should always be flowing and feel linked at all times or it awakens client during treatment.even using oil andkeeping 1 hand on client always needs to be done.cheers for all these posts seems ive started off whole amount of threads.
i recomend client elswher if want to be naked etc and all should have needs respected not just ignorng people that is un ethical

I usually provide a thick towel, or they make it thick - the idea being that it is more likely to cover an embarrassing situation.

I find it much easier massaging people naked than worrying about them being embarrassed about their bits. They are always draped, though, unless they are on their front. Women are great for this, because they can use only a tiny towel, saving on the washing.

Hello All

I was just going through my internet bookmarks and sumbled upon Healthy Pages, a site I hadn't visited in over a year. I logged back in, purely out of interest and was so surprised to see my original post still up there being discussed actively. Brilliant!

Reading through the various comments and responses, I have to say there appears to be one particular point which all the men are skirting around / ignoring (in my view at least). Whilst, it is COMPLETELY understandable how a male might prefer to be totally naked during a professional and health only focused massage, let's not be naive and pretend that, in addition to this, it is indeed also true (empirically and scientifically demonstrated) that generally men have a higher tendency to bring sexual activity into the equation in any particular situation, whether it be a professional massage, a drunken dinner with a long-standing attractive female friend or just as we get on and about our daily activities...ie, women can control their sexual desires/urges better than men. And therefore, all of what is being discussed here, needs to be considered with that basic difference in mind!!

I'm moving to Kensington next month, so if anyone knows of a suitable mobile therapist in that area (see my original post), please do let me know. I found two from my original post, which was very helpful, so thank you all.

I think you are underestimating females in that post, they are just as capable as men when it comes to making advances these days.

IMO the days of the stereotypical quiet women is long past, the young women these days seem to have a lot more drive then some of the men, it could well be something to do with the amount of steroids and hormonesthat are finding there way into the food chain, but whatever, they are not backward at coming forward when they want something

excellent and very amusing response. apologies if any woman out there thought I was underestimating their ability or keeness to ask and get what they want ... I am only too aware of the outstanding skills women have in this area.

All I was trying to say was that most women can control their sexual side better than most men...ie, if they decide and go for a relaxtion/muscle therapy massage they are more likely and able (than the average man) to not be side-tracked into sexual thoughts just because they might happen to be naked! And so, to some degree I can understand why women might be cautious of agreeing to give a man a massage while he is totally naked and in the glute/groin areas ... because she might think (often rightly) that even if he started off with the right intentions, during it, he might start to wish for a bit more...because "he's a man after all!!!!" LOL

I am a massage therapist and do as you say!But not always!I work in a male only salon!!!!!!!!And i do tend to get the odd creep!!
But i love when a client comes in and knows exactly what they want and are confident when talking about it as then i can always know that this client is going to get my full attention!(not that i dont give it anyway!)but then i can really concentrate on areas without the paranoia of feeling like the client only came in here to let a young not half bad looking female(so imtold!!!!!)(BIG HEAD!!!!!)in a men only salon which is farley new to my town touch them in a dirty way!when there is nothing dirty about it! Id love to help and say that i could be your new therapist but unfortunatly im in IRELAND!!So theres nothing i can do for you but i really did enjoy reading your post and to know that there is a few more of you out there!!!!!

there's a salon in my town that just caters for male beauty, holistic and hairdressing too.

It's a growing industry as more men are getting into back waxing, facials etc. I think salon owners are very wise to snap up this niche market, as many men might find it daunting to book an appointment at a 'normal' salon as they might be shy, be worried they might be seen as a perv or (heaven forbid, u know what men are like...) be seen as 'gay'......

Ye we have loads of salons just for men!!Purley proffesional!!!!!!
There is only 3 of us working there! Its a Turkish Barbers!!!We do Turkish hot towel shaves, hair, and then i do the rest!!!!
Even RESCEPTION cos im the only Irish person working there!!The boss is turkish and the other barber a woman is from Lithuania! She is the best barber you could ever come across!!Ye we have a Sauna and shower and everything its great!
We're only open since March so its taken alot for the men of the town to come to terms that they can go somewhere when the women are getting all done up!The men come in fora pedicure while the women are getin there hair done!!You see the trick is nobody sees them getting anything done other than there hair and the shave the rest is in another 2 rooms! Which are mine!
So nobody can say they are gay or that cos they can just say they had a sore back or they were in the sauna or they had to get there ears done!! ha ha ha ha ha!! There so funny!!even the farmer joes are givin it a go!!!!!!its about time there were places for men anyway well in my town cos all you do is repeat yourself when buying presents and now they can spoil themselves!!

This service sounds great but is extremely rare. I live in Radlett, Herts and was seeing the same (female) therapist for 8+years. Only after time did she suggest i go naked (with drapes). Eventually having known her for a while and had a number of massages, she suggested i go without drapes if i am comfortable with it. This prevented her from having to move them all the time and ensured she could focus solely on the massage.
I found this to be the most relaxing massage i have ever had as there was nothing to hide and nothing I could get embarrased about. Therefore i didn't worry.
However, since she moved away, I have seen a few other therapists in my area and have been disappointed. I've had to wear shorts or boxer shorts which have to be lifted / moved etc and none of them ever massage the glutes which i use in my sport. Don't get me wrong, I totally appreciate why this is the case, but it is a shame. In the meantime, I am still searching for a therapist with a more "open minded" approach once she gets to know me.

Hi all,
I am a therapist and agree that it is easier for the client to be unclothed so you do not have to fidle around with underwear and much prefer to massage this way. The only problem is that if word gets around around that you massage clients unclothed it opens you up to guys thinking you offer "extras" and get some unwelcome phone calls. I really do think it is a shame for the people who do genually want a good massage and to be unclothed and these other "characters" are just spoiling it and putting therapists off massaging this way and in some cases not offering to massage men at all.
I will and do continue to put up with these "calls" as i will not compromise on my massage techniques and as long as I continue to get genuine clients that appreciate my therapies then it is all worth it...
